Sony MDRV6 Studio Monitor Headphones with CCAW Voice Coil

The Sony MDRV6 Studio Monitor Headphones with CCAW Voice Coil is one of the longest running products by Sony and there is more than one reason for this. It may not win any beauty pageants but the unrivalled audio performance and the long lasting materials used in construction make it a winner in all fronts that matter the most.
The all black look may be dated but does the job of being professional and having the ability to gel in with just about any atmosphere. The head band is made of faux leather and is padded for good. It extends all the way to the ear cups that ca swivel for a better fit. The Sony logo sits prettily at the cover of the cups and is elegant. The ear pads themselves are soft and foamy, and the over the ear design comes with its quota of pros and a couple of cons too.

The MDR V6 enjoy an iconic status when comes to their natural sound reproduction and are renowned for a pure frequency response – the audio sounds exactly as it was recorded, without any undue emphasis to any part of the spectrum. This makes for a very pleasant experience if you are listening to a good track but it also implies that these headphones are unforgiving to a badly produced piece of music, blurting out every inconsistency. The folks who love their bass and expect a boomy sound out of every track will be disappointed here, though the audiophiles love them for the same reason. The treble, mid range and lower frequencies are all crystal clear and it doesn’t seem possible to find a better equipment than these in the same price range. They all emanate from powerful 40 mm drivers that sport Samarium-Cobalt magnets.
Coming to the over the ear design, it provides a lot of breathable space to the wearer, enhancing comfort for quite a few. It also allows background sounds to blend in, meaning that you shall be aware of what’s going on around you all the time. However sound does not leak out much from the MDR V6 and hence you can also use them when it is necessary to keep your music to yourself. Other engineering elements like the connector with superb strain relief that houses the 3.5 mm jack, an additional ¼ inch adaptor, copper clad voice coil and the oxygen-free copper cabling just add to the durability of this sound machine and that can be gauged from the fact that several people have reported owing them for over two decades.
The only hassle for some can be the bulky, coiled cable. Not easy to be placed in a pocket, it has to hang outside and can get entangled at times. But the trueness of the sound more than makes up for it. The range of response here is 5Hz-30 KHz, so the MDR V6 can reproduce just about anything the human ear can catch, and a bit of what it cannot. These are a classic product that will always be worth their price and you can go for them without a hitch, unless heavy bass is needed.
